Dropship automation for supplier inventory and orders.

Dropship automation connects your store to dropship and wholesale suppliers, so stock levels, prices, orders and tracking numbers move on their own instead of by spreadsheet and email. NativeCode is an Atlanta-based team that builds these supplier connections for Shopify and other stores nationwide, using supplier APIs, SFTP and CSV feeds or EDI.

What’s included

What does dropship automation include?

Dropship automation includes supplier connections, inventory and price sync, order routing, tracking updates, backorder handling and monitoring. Each supplier connects through whatever it supports: an API, an SFTP or CSV feed, or EDI.

01

Supplier connections

Each dropship or wholesale supplier connects by API, SFTP and CSV feed or X12 EDI, all feeding one flow into your store.

02

Inventory and price sync

Stock and cost updates run on a schedule set for each supplier, so listings and margins stay current.

03

Automatic order routing

Each order is split by line and sent to the supplier that holds the stock, by rules your team controls.

04

Tracking back to the store

Ship notices and tracking numbers flow back to Shopify, which marks orders fulfilled and notifies the customer.

05

Backorders and discontinued items

Backordered and discontinued items are hidden, flagged or rerouted to another supplier before they sell.

06

Monitoring and alerts

Stale feeds, rejected orders and missing tracking trigger alerts to a named owner before a customer notices.

How we run it

How do you automate dropship orders across multiple suppliers?

You automate dropship orders across multiple suppliers by mapping every supplier SKU to your catalog, syncing stock on a schedule and routing each order line by rules. We run it in four steps, one supplier at a time.

This is the kind of supplier work behind the Spooky Costumes and ThirdLust builds, which connected each store to its suppliers with EDI.

01

Map suppliers and SKUs

List each supplier, its feed format and schedule, and map supplier SKUs, UPCs and attributes to your catalog.

02

Connect and sync

Build the API, SFTP, CSV or EDI connection for each supplier and set sync schedules for stock and price.

03

Route and test

Set routing rules, then run test orders end to end until tracking returns to the store.

04

Run and monitor

Go live supplier by supplier, with alerts for stale feeds, failed orders and missing tracking.

Questions

Dropship automation questions

What is dropship automation?

Dropship automation is the set of integrations that move inventory, orders and tracking between your store and the suppliers who ship for you. Supplier stock syncs into the store, each order goes to the right supplier without manual entry, and tracking comes back to the customer. It replaces spreadsheets, emailed orders and copy-pasted tracking numbers.

How often should supplier inventory sync?

Inventory should sync as often as the supplier can provide reliable data, and fast-moving items need it most. Supplier APIs can usually be checked often, while SFTP and CSV feeds update on the supplier's own schedule. We set a schedule per supplier and can hold back a buffer on low-stock items so the store does not oversell between updates.

How do you handle products sold by more than one supplier?

Products sold by more than one supplier are mapped to a single listing, with each supplier's SKU, cost and stock attached. Routing rules then pick the supplier for each order, for example by stock on hand, cost or ship-from location. Customers see one product, and your team sees which supplier filled each order.

What happens with backorders and discontinued items?

Backordered and discontinued items are handled by rules you approve. When a supplier marks an item backordered, the store can hide it, show an expected date or route the order to another supplier. Discontinued items are unpublished or redirected so customers and search engines are not sent to dead pages, and every change is logged for your team.

Do I need EDI for dropship automation?

No. Most dropship automation runs on supplier APIs or SFTP and CSV feeds. EDI is needed when a supplier or retail partner requires it, which some larger suppliers do. We connect whatever each supplier supports and bring every supplier into one flow, and our X12 EDI integration service covers the partners that require standard documents.
