What's included
A Squarespace to Shopify migration includes your catalog, customers, content, redirects and a rebuilt design. Nothing goes live until it has been checked on a staging store.
01
A written plan covering data, URLs, Squarespace features and launch day, agreed before anything moves.
02
Products, variants, prices, images, SKUs and stock levels exported from Squarespace and cleaned before import to Shopify.
03
Every Squarespace store, product, blog and page URL mapped to its Shopify URL with a 301 redirect.
Technical SEO →04
Squarespace templates do not transfer, so we rebuild your brand as a Shopify theme made for your catalog.
Web design →05
Squarespace features such as Email Campaigns, member areas and scheduling matched to Shopify features, App Store apps or a custom build.
Shopify development →06
DNS switch, launch-day checks and Search Console monitoring in the weeks after go-live.
How we run it
A Squarespace to Shopify migration works in five steps: audit, map, build, launch and monitor. We follow the same order on every store.
Step 1
Crawl the Squarespace site and list every URL, product, customer export and feature in use.
Step 2
Map store, product, blog and page URLs to Shopify's /collections/, /products/, /blogs/ and /pages/ paths.
Step 3
Build the Shopify theme and import products, customers and orders to a staging store.
Step 4
Point the domain to Shopify, import the 301 redirects and run launch checks.
Step 5
Watch Search Console, orders and account reactivations, and fix gaps fast.
From Squarespace
Squarespace can export product, customer and order data, but your design and most page layouts have to be rebuilt in Shopify. Here is how each part moves.
Squarespace Commerce products export to CSV, though not every product type or field comes across. We reshape variants, options and images to fit Shopify and check every SKU.
Customer records and order history move with a migration app or the Shopify API. Passwords cannot be migrated, so customers get an invitation to reactivate their account.
Squarespace's site export covers blog posts and basic pages, not products or design. Posts become Shopify articles under /blogs/, and pages move to /pages/.
Shopify SEO →Squarespace product URLs sit under the store page, often as /shop/p/product-name. Each one redirects to its Shopify /products/ URL, and store and category pages to /collections/.

FAQ
Not if the migration is planned for search. Squarespace and Shopify use different URL structures, so a product at /shop/p/name moves to /products/name on Shopify. We map every old URL to its new one with a 301 redirect, carry over titles and meta descriptions, and watch Search Console after launch to catch gaps.
Most stores move when they outgrow Squarespace as a commerce platform. Common reasons are a growing catalog with more variants, inventory across several locations, integrations with ERP, 3PL or marketplace systems, and the need for apps Squarespace does not offer. Shopify is built around commerce, with a large App Store and an API for custom work.
Yes. Customer records and order history can be moved to Shopify with a migration app or the Shopify API. Passwords cannot be migrated for security reasons, so customers are invited to reactivate their accounts with an account activation email. We test the data on a staging store first so customer and order records match before launch.
Not directly. Squarespace templates cannot be moved to Shopify, so the design is rebuilt as a Shopify theme. We can match your current look closely or use the move to improve it, with templates built for your products, collections and content. The theme is built on staging and reviewed before launch.
It depends on the store. Catalog size, data quality, the number of Squarespace features and extensions to replace and the amount of design work all affect timing. Small stores move faster than large catalogs with custom features. You get a written timeline before work starts, and launch is planned for a low-traffic window.
