Services · Server-side tracking

Server-side tracking that gets conversion data back to your ad platforms.

NativeCode sets up server-side tracking for companies losing conversion data to ad blockers, browser privacy limits and consent rules. We build server-side Google Tag Manager, Meta Conversions API, TikTok Events API and Google Ads enhanced conversions, as an Atlanta-based team serving companies nationwide.

What’s included

What does server-side tracking include?

Server-side tracking includes a tagging server, platform conversion APIs, deduplication with your browser pixels, consent handling and regular checks of match quality. We start from the conversions your ad platforms optimize toward, then make sure each one arrives once and with enough detail to match.

01

Server-side Google Tag Manager

A server container on Google Cloud or a managed host, served from your own subdomain, sending GA4 and ad platform events from the server.

02

Meta Conversions API setup

Purchases, leads and key events sent to Meta from the server with hashed customer details, deduplicated against the Meta Pixel.

03

TikTok, LinkedIn and Google Ads

TikTok Events API, LinkedIn Conversions API and Google Ads enhanced conversions, so each platform receives the same clean events.

04

Event deduplication

Shared event IDs across browser and server events, so each conversion is counted once and platforms do not double report.

05

Consent mode and first-party data

Google consent mode and your consent tool connected to every tag, with first-party data hashed and sent only where consent allows.

06

Shopify customer events

Shopify web pixels and customer events connected to the server container, with order data filling gaps that browser pixels miss.

How we run it

How does a server-side tracking setup work?

A server-side tracking setup works in four steps: audit, plan, build and verify. We list the conversions each platform needs first, so nothing is sent that does not support bidding or reporting.

Server-side tracking builds on GA4 and analytics and supports Facebook advertising, TikTok advertising and Google Ads management. For an example of measured ecommerce work, read the HauteFlair product page CRO case study.

01

Audit

Review current pixels, tags, conversions and consent setup, and find where events are lost or double counted.

02

Plan

Map each conversion to the platforms that need it, with event names, parameters and deduplication keys.

03

Build

Set up the server container, conversion APIs, enhanced conversions, consent mode and Shopify customer events.

04

Verify

Test in Tag Assistant and each platform's event tools, then monitor match quality and event volume every month.

Questions

Server-side tracking questions

What is server-side tracking?

Server-side tracking sends conversion events from a server you control to analytics and ad platforms, instead of relying only on scripts in the visitor's browser. A server-side Google Tag Manager container or a platform conversions API receives each event, adds the details the platform needs and forwards it. Ad blockers and browser limits affect it less, and you control what data is shared.

Why do browser pixels miss conversions?

Browser pixels miss conversions because ad blockers stop them from loading, browsers such as Safari limit cookies and click identifiers, and visitors who decline consent are not tracked. Checkouts on other domains and slow pages drop events too. Meta, Google Ads and TikTok then see fewer conversions than really happened, which weakens their bidding and makes campaigns look worse than they are.

What is the Meta Conversions API and do we need it?

The Meta Conversions API sends events such as purchases and leads from your server directly to Meta. Most brands running Facebook and Instagram ads benefit from it, because it recovers events the Meta Pixel misses and improves event match quality. We run it alongside the pixel with shared event IDs, so Meta counts each conversion once.

How do you avoid double counting conversions?

We avoid double counting with deduplication. Each conversion gets one event ID that is sent with both the browser event and the server event, and platforms such as Meta and TikTok use it to keep only one. For Google Ads we use enhanced conversions with transaction IDs. We then compare platform numbers with orders or CRM leads to confirm the counts line up.

Does server-side tracking work with Shopify?

Yes. On Shopify we use customer events and web pixels, which work with Checkout Extensibility, and send events to a server-side Google Tag Manager container or straight to platform APIs. The Meta and Google sales channel apps for Shopify also send server events, so we check what they already cover before adding anything, to avoid duplicates.
